Dutch youth football

The Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) exceeded the magical number of 1.209.413 members and football is the largest sports federation in the country ever since. The greatest height of members of the Football Federation consists of children in the age group of D-juniors. The number of youth football players reaches half a million. Dutch youth football has a long tradition and perfectly organized structure.

The Amsterdam International Football Academy (AIFA) creates football players for professional football clubs from a young football talents. We provide specific technical football training tailored to your needs also in your own country.

We divide players by age and we do it just as the Royal Netherlands Football Association:

  • A Juniors – under the age of 18 years
  • B Juniors – under the age of 16 years
  • C Juniors – under the age of 14 years
  • D Pupils – under the age of 12 years
  • E Pupils – under the age of 10 years
  • F Pupils – under the age of 8 years

For the ninth consecutive year the KNVB recorded an increase of membership. The primary growth took place with girls and women (2,8%), as well as the male D-pupils (3%) who fairly increased in numbers. Half way through the year 2012 the KNVB counted 127.488 female football players. A 10,5% share of the membership total. Half way through the year 2012 there were more than 61.424 active indoor football players, of whom 42,5% were also registered as field players. Football is the largest sport amongst new Dutch citizens and the fastest growing sport in the country amongst women and girls. The Netherlands counted 3.229 amateur organizations half way the year 2012. This minor decrease is partly caused by mergers.
